We have provided the following costs for IVF treatments as a guide only. Individual costs will be outlined during your consultation with Dr Watson. For all other enquiries please contact the practice on 07 3353 4710.

Simple Intrauterine Insemination Fees

FEE EXPLANATION – SIMPLE IUI

Planning consultation. Medicare deems this be billed on the first day of your period not the actual day of attendance. Item 13209 $215
Ovulation monitoring. Item 13203 $600
Semen preparation. Item 13221 $65
TOTAL   $880
The minimum rebate from Medicare is $528.00. Once you have reached your Medicare Safety Net for the calendar year this amount will increase.
Payment is expected on the day of insemination. Dr Watson may prescribe pessaries.
These cost $54 and will be billed by QLD Fertility Group.

Intrauterine Insemination with FSH stimulation (modified cycle)

FEE EXPLANATION – MODIFIED IUI (using injections)

Planning consultation. Medicare deems this be billed on the first day of your period not the actual day of attendance. Item 13209 $250.00
Ovulation monitoring. Item 13203 $486.75
Semen preparation. Item 13221 $55.00
TOTAL   $791.75
The minimum rebate from Medicare is $528.00. Once you have reached your Medicare Safety Net for the calendar year this amount will increase.
Payment is expected on the day of insemination. Dr Watson may prescribe pessaries.
These cost $54 and will be billed by QLD Fertility Group.

IVF Cycle (Insured Patients)

FEE EXPLANATION – IVF Cycle (Insured Patients)

Planning consultation. Medicare deems this be billed on the first day of your menstrual not the day of attendance. ALL patients will be billed for this and receive a Medicare rebate of $72 on cycle completion. Item 13209 $84.70
Egg Pick-Up. Your health fund will be billed directly for this. Item 13212 $550.00
Embryo Transfer. Your health fund will be billed directly for this. Item 13215 $180.00

Important Notes:

  • You will be sent a hospital account for the egg pick-up and embryo transfer. Depending on your private health insurance cover you may have an excess or co-payment which the hospital will request to be paid on admission. 
  • You will also be sent an anaesthetist account for the egg pick-up. This account will be billed by the attending anaesthetist and may involve some out-of-pocket expense.  
  • At the beginning of your cycle you will also receive an account from QFG for their portion of the IVF process. You will receive a rebate from Medicare which can be claimed immediately after the completion of the cycle. If not claimed promptly, this will affect the health fund payment for the inpatient procedures to this practice. 
  • It is your responsibility to check with your private health fund to confirm if you are covered for IVF procedures.
  • Your total out of pocket expnses for one cycle (includ. QFG fees, Dr Watson's fees, anaethetist fees, hospital fees) will be approximately $3500.


IVF Cycle (Uninsured Patients)

FEE EXPLANATION - IVF Cycle (Uninsured Patients)

Planning consultation. Medicare deems this to be dated on the day you began injections. Item 13209 $84.70
Egg Pick-Up. Rebate $301.30 Item 13212 $550.00
Embryo Transfer. Rebate $94.45 Item 13215 $180.00

Important Notes:

  • You will be sent two hospital accounts. One for egg pick-up and one for the embryo transfer. The hospital will expect payment on the days of admission. 
  • You will have an anaesthetist account for the egg pick-up. This account will be billed by the attending anaesthetist and you will receive a small Medicare rebate for this. No anaesthetic is required for the embryo transfer.  
  • At the beginning of the cycle you will receive an account from QFG for their portion of the IVF process and you will be able to claim a rebate from Medicare.  
  • Your total out of pocket expenses for one cycle (includ. QFG fees, Dr Watson's fees, anaethetist fees, hospital fees) will be approximately $4500.

FET Cycle (Insured Patients)

FEE EXPLANATION – Frozen Embryo TransferCycle (Insured Patients)

Planning consultation. Medicare deems this be billed on the day of your menstrual cycle not the day of attendance. ALL patients will be billed for this and receive a Medicare rebate of approx. $72 on cycle completion. Item 13209 $84.70
Embryo Transfer. Your health fund will be billed directly for this. Item 13215 $180.00
